RECORD: SUNMONU TAKES OYO CENTRAL LEADERS TO WORKS MINISTER || OLOJULE

The first and the only representative that takes her Senatorial Leaders to Visit the Ministry of Power, Works & Housing for slow and clumsy of projects within her Senatorial District is SEN. MONSURAT OLAJUMOKE SUNMONNU.

In a rare feat for a political office holder, Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, took political leaders to visit the Minister of State for Power, Works & Housing, Hon. Mustapha Baba Shehuri on 5 October 2017.

The agenda of the 5 October meeting attended by the leaders was about the state of infrastructural developments within the Oyo Central.

The leaders were able to lay before the Minister the challenges faced within the Senatorial District: Roads; such as completion of the Oyo-Ogbomosho Expressway, Ibadan-Oyo Expressway, Oyo-Ife and a number of roads in Ibadan less-city such as Akaran road were all tabled, among others.

Sunmonu again copiously informed the Hon. Minister of ordeals on these roads and how she regularly saw and received calls about accidents.
The Minister in his remarks confirmed that the Distinguished Senator, who Chairs the Senate committed on Foreign Affairs, had previously brought these projects up with Ministry, prompting the resuscitation of Oyo-Ogbomosho, and had been lobbying to ensure their inclusion in Federal budgets. In turn, the Ministry was also endeavouring to ensure their timely execution.

The Hon. Minister thanked the Distinguished Senator for her studious work and for again bringing these issues up. He agreed to look into the condition of the roads discussed and feed back.

The visitors also met with the Senate Committee on Works where the Chair of the Committee, Sen. Kabiru Gaya reiterated that Sen. Sunmonu was constantly following up with the committee on Oyo Central projects. At the meetings were Chief S.M. Akindele, Chief Elesin Meta (Surulere) as well as other Leaders, Youth Leaders, Women Leaders and Party Chairmen representing the eleven Local Governments in Oyo Central.

These meetings followed the 19 September 2017 meeting between Sen. Sunmonu and HE, Babatunde Fashola SAN, the Hon. Minister for Power, Works & Housing, where the same issues surrounding Federal Government infrastructural developments within Oyo Central Senatorial District were discussed.

Thank you, Sen. Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonnu
