SENATOR MONSURAT SUNMONU'S BEAUTIFUL MOVE ON EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT IN OYO CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT

The above is aptly enough to define education and its usefulness to mankind. Hence , Education remains the best legacy a country can give to her citizens.
More than 5 years in educational psychology and my theoretical encounter with Socrates ,Plato, Aristotle , Cicero , John Dewey, Shakespeare, Thorndike, Abraham Maslow , Nicolo Machiavelli , Adegoke Adelabu Penkelemesi , Awolowo, Babs Fafunwa, Azikiwe, Wole Soyinka and the likes , have shown me how education can make a lasting difference in children's lives. But education not just good for children , it's good for nations. investing in education isn't just the right to do , it's smart economics.
Education makes man civilized and therefore the country. It makes the mankind literate in ethics and moral values. If we have a well nurtured and balanced education system, then half the task of the country’s development is done. But when we look into the Nigerian context in Nigeria education system ,it is suffering with many issues that needs to be addressed at the earliest, we have some very big problems which include ; poor funding ,unavailability of teachers , bad governance , lack of infrastructure , lack of teaching aids , politicisation of education , poor standard of living , Motivation e.t.c
Funnily enough , all the aforementioned problems are known and visible to our political leaders. Many of them had even promised in terms of its improvement, modernization , and better finance. They spoke too much of English to have their ways during the electioneering campaigns.
But it is disheartening , daunt and less confident that these so called politicians are doing the opposite of what they promised when they finally got empowered through our votes. They because of the political privilege ride about in costly cars ,live in ten storey mansions , consume more alcohol than is good for their digestive systems , bring up their own children in pampered ease and inglorious leisure, instead of discharging their scared obligation to their people.
While people are still wrestling with the hollow promises made by these greedy politicians with a serious thought to unseat a number of them who have been contributing nothing to our National development , then, the search on how to cross examine the performing ones came up.
Among the most performing politicians that God sent to Nigeria is a caring leader , a lover of masses , darling of youths and a very beautiful brain in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu , representing Oyo Central Senatorial District.
In both theory and practice Senator Monsurat Sunmonu is a complete lover of Education. She volunteers her time and money for any good cause that can bring about Education Development in her Senatorial District.
Talking of Senator Monsurat Sunmonu 's passion for Education development , good representation , and her mission/vision to take the good people of Oyo Central Senatorial District to their promiseland is like talking of Adegoke Adelabu Penkelemesi 's vision to uncage his people from the political bondage of the white men who claimed that England was the the hub of the universe.
In her brilliant submission in the Nigerian Senate during the presentation of the 2016 Budget , Senator Monsurat Sunmonu charged the Federal Government to increase its spending in Technical Colleges. She forcefully argued that the culture of pushing all Students to white collar academics is wrong , instead that if adequate investment is made in technical Colleges it will open a new area of industry and help reduce unemployment . She therefore made calls for increasing allocation to Technical Colleges within her Senatorial District.
For record , Senator Monsurat Sunmonu in her unfluctuate efforts to promote Education for sustainable development in her Senatorial district ,empowered some selected Public Secondary Schools in her district with sophisticated lCT materials.
Senator Monsurat Sunmonu , through her blossoming NGO, (Monsurat Olajumoke Sumonu World Empowerment Foundation ) gave out over three hundreds (300) free JAMB forms to indigent Students of Oyo Central Senatorial District.
She has also awarded and facilitated a number of Bursaries and Scholarship at various levels both in Nigeria and Abroad.
She sponsored an historical Mathematics competition organised by (NAOS) , a student body that comprises all Oyo Students across Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria , where the winner went home with a Scholarship that covers his secondary education and other external examinations.
In other to strike a fine balance between the rich and the poor , Senator Monsurat Sunmonu also facilitated lnternational Scholarship where the beneficiaries from her Senatorial District were entitled to traveling Abroad , tuition , accommodation , stipends and comprehensive medical insurance at the WUHAN University of Technology, China.
Judging from the forgoing , one can say that Senator Monsurat is a woman of character who will rather loose a battle in honour than celebrate a victory in dishonour.
She is a fine gift to this generation.
May God Almighty continue to give her wisdom to change what can be changed in this country.
